505 - Shop Equipment
- Shop equipment shall be operated only by authorized employees.
- All mechanical guards and other safety features shall be in place and in good working order, except when removal is required for maintenance or testing.
- Machinery shall not be lubricated or cleaned while in motion unless so designed.
- Use proper clearance procedures prior to performing maintenance or lubrication.
- Scrap material shall not be allowed to accumulate around machinery.
- Machines with moving parts that are in motion shall not be stopped by operator action, such as using your hands or placing an object against the moving parts.
- Tool rests on bench grinders shall be adjusted to a maximum of 1/8 in. from the wheel. The distance between the wheel periphery and the adjustable tongue at the top shall not exceed 1/4 in. Adjustments shall not be made with the wheel in motion.
