510 - Knives
- Do not use personal pocketknives for industrial uses.
- Utility knives shall be considered for use
in the following order:
- First choice shall be a utility knife with a self-retractable blade.
- Second choice shall be a regular utility knife with a locking blade. When a regular utility knife is not in use, the blade will be retracted. If this is not suitable for the task, other knives shall be selected based on task demands and safety features of the knife.
- Cut-resistant gloves of at least an ANSI
cut level 3 shall be worn when using cutting tools, such as knife-edged type
tools, utility knives, box cutters, etc.
NOTE: Cutting in the line of fire should be avoided.
