704 – Railroad Equipment
1. Employees working with moving railroad equipment shall be trained to safely perform such activities.
2. Railroad equipment operators shall stop and ensure all pedestrian and vehicular traffic is alerted before entering grade crossings.
3. Employees shall not ride on moving railroad equipment other than the locomotive or cars specifically designed for that purpose. Riding on railcar ladders is prohibited.
4. Dismounting moving equipment is prohibited.
5. Exercise extreme caution to avoid pinch points during coupling and uncoupling activities.
6. Railcars shall only be moved using a locomotive or other equipment specifically designed for that purpose.
7. All railroad equipment shall be equipped with a functioning hand brake.
8. Stored or parked railroad equipment shall always be secured by a manual brake and wheel chocks where appropriate.
